John Brown initially worked in the private sector for 15 years before moving to public service as a senior orthodontic technician. He has City and Guilds Institute of London advanced certificates in Crown and Bridge, Prosthodontics and Orthodontic technology. His other academic achievements are graduating as a postgraduate Master of Science in Medical Science (MSc.) from the University of Glasgow in 1996 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education from the National University of Ireland in 2006.
John has worked in both Prosthodontics and Orthodontics laboratories and teaching establishments in Scotland and Ireland. He has lectured in the UK, Malaysia and Germany, presented at the EOS in Istanbul and Reykjavik. In 2001 he coordinated the World International Orthodontic Congress Technicians programme in Paris.
John has been an external examiner for Dental Technology courses in Cardiff, Manchester Universities and Trinity College in Dublin BSc in Dental Technology. He was presented with the “British Orthodontic Society Distinguished Technicians Award” in 2005. This award is presented annually to an orthodontic technician who has given exceptional service to orthodontics.
John has been acknowledged for technical support in a number of books including, “Complete Dentures 2nd Edition” by Watt and MacGregor, “The design, construction and use of removable orthodontic appliances” by Adams & Kerr, and the orthodontic appliance diagrams in the last two editions of “Master Dentistry Vol 2 for Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics”. Recently he advised on the readability and technical content of the English Translation of the German book “O-Atlas II”
John is currently retired as Lecturer in Dental Technology (Orthodontics) in the University College of Cork Dental School and Hospital in Ireland.
Dr Aidan Callanan graduated from University College Cork with a first-class honours degree in 2001 and spent the next few years working in general practice in England. While working as a senior house officer in the paediatric, oral surgery and radiology departments in Guys Hospital in London, Dr Callanan obtained my MFDS credentials from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and Physicians Glasgow. After this he started his training as a specialist registrar in Orthodontics at East Grinstead Hospital. In 2007 he completed his MSC at Kings College London and successfully completed the Morth examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh later that year.
Dr Armando Dias da Silva, D.D.S., MSc graduated in Dentistry in 1998 at University of Oporto Dentistry Faculty, in Portugal and received his Master of Science in Orthodontics in 2005. He is currently the Co-coordinator of Master Science Course in Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery at the University of Oporto Medicine Faculty-Portugal. Dr Dias da Silva has many publications and has enrolled the membership of several relevant Orthodontic Societies, such as EOS (European Orthodontic Society); WFO (World Federation of Orthodontists); AAO (American Association of Orthodontists); APESORT Founder (Portuguese Association of Orthodontic Specialists); SPODF Specialist Entitled Member (Portuguese Society of Dentofacial Orthopedics). Dr Dias da Silva is a Past- President of the Portuguese Orthodontic Society and has lectured in Portugal, Spain, France, Austria, Russia, Chile, United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.
Dr Tom Houlihan B.Dent.Sc., MSD. (U. Washington), graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1988. He was in general practice for 20 years. Tom completed specialty training and a Masters degree in orthodontics at the University of Washington in June of 2011. Tom practices in the Hermitage Medical Clinic, Lucan and Burlington Dental Clinic, Ballsbridge, Dublin. Tom also holds a part-time lecturer post in the Orthodontic Therapy programme in the D.D.H. Tom has a special interest in Lingual Orthodontics and both adult and children's orthodontics.
Dr Lettice O'Leary BDS NUI,MFDS RCSI,MOrth RCSEd, M.S.C. Univ Lon, graduated from Cork Dental School, University College Cork in June 1999. Following Senior House Officer roles in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, and orthodontics in the Dublin Dental Hospital and the Countess of Chester Hospital, she then proceeded to a Specialist Registrar position in Orthodontics in Kings College London. After Dr O'Leary finished her specialist training and obtained her Masters of Science in Orthodontics (with Merit) from the University of London, she returned to Ireland. Dr O'Leary entered private orthodontic practice in Dublin and Tullamore in 2007.
Dr Chris Roberts earned his BS and DDS degrees from the Ohio State University. He completed his orthodontic training and MS degree at the Eastman Dental Center
and the University of Rochester, where he authored or co-authored several scientific articles. Living in Findlay, Ohio, Dr Roberts has taught one day per week at Michigan since 1990. He is a Past-President of the Ohio Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists and is currently
President of the American Association of Orthodontists 2020-21. He and his wife, Susan, have two children, Dr Brian Roberts, an Emergency Medicine physician in New York City, and Captain Sarah Roberts Zerr, a former Marine Corps helicopter pilot now living in Washington DC. In his spare time, he enjoys running, having completed 17 Boston Marathons.
Dr Mark Sanchez is an American orthodontist focused on making practice better for all orthodontists around the world. With childhood years spent in Africa, Europe,
and many states across the U.S. he has gained a broad view of humankind. Educated first at the Georgia Institute of Technology ranging from a bachelor's degree to graduate work in Physics, he shifted gears and entered Emory University's Dental School. After putting in his 10,000 hours in private practice as a general dentist, he returned to Emory to train in Orthodontics under Charlie Smith and Michael Stewart.
